2023 FMT Youth Sponsorship Recipient Announced

We are very pleased to announce that Lachie Kirk is the recipient of the First Mortgage Trust Youth Sponsorship Award for 2023.

Our annual Youth Sponsorship Program is an initiative we are very proud of.

It is open to those aged 16 to 25 who are excelling in sport, music, or art at a national and/or international level.

This year we had 13 applicants from all over the country. Selecting one was difficult as all the applicants were very talented. However, we were really impressed with Lachie. We loved his hard work, his values, and his ambition to compete at the highest level.

“It has been an honour to receive the FMT Youth Sponsorship for 2023. As my sport of Trampolining is fully self funded the sponsorship was used to partially fund my recent trip to Birmingham at the World Age Group Trampoline Championships.

There, I ended up placing 11th on the Trampoline and improved my personal best by a whole mark, a huge step towards my ambitions for future years. The other half of the sponsorship will go towards next years competitions in Portugal and Switzerland at the world cups which I qualified for at this years World Age Group Trampoline Championships.

My goal for the next 4 years building up to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, is to improve my average score by a mark each year so by the time the Olympic year comes around I will be sitting in good contention to qualify for a spot to compete at the games.

This has been possible because of you all at First Mortgage Trust so a big thank you for sponsoring me to fund my ambitions and goals.”
