FMT Appoints Sue Griffiths as National Strategic Partnerships Manager

FMT has announced the appointment of Sue Griffiths as National Strategic Partnerships Manager, bringing her extensive industry experience and leadership to this strategically focused role.

Since joining FMT just over 18 months ago, Sue has made an impact with her collaborative leadership style and strategic insight. With more than 30 years of experience across New Zealand and Australia’s financial services sector, she brings proven expertise in sales leadership, strategic execution, and relationship management.

“Sue’s leadership and understanding of the lending market make her an exceptional fit for this role,” said Phil Bennett, Head of Lending. “Her ability to mentor and empower our teams while driving strategic growth will further strengthen FMT’s position in the market.”

Throughout her career, Sue has led award-winning sales teams, driven sustainable growth, and guided high-performing teams through changing market conditions. She was named NZMA Elite Business Woman of the Year 2022 in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the industry.

“I’m really excited to step into this new role and get back out in the industry, reconnecting with advisers and aggregators while forging new relationships. I’ve always had a passion supporting the mortgage sector through training and education, helping advisers deliver solutions for their clients. I believe FMT is the best placed Non-Bank Lender who can support advisers with the right solutions and inspire growth and success across the industry.”

Paul Bendall, CEO, says “Sue’s appointment reflects both the evolution of the role and our commitment to growing strong partnerships. We’re fortunate to have someone of Sue’s calibre stepping up, and it’s always rewarding to promote from within.”

Sue succeeds Bruce Smith, who was with FMT for a decade. The role has been refined to align with FMT’s strategy to further expand and diversify its lending portfolio. Sue’s appointment highlights FMT’s ongoing commitment to mortgage advisers, a cornerstone of our business, and to building long-term partnerships that deliver smarter lending solutions across New Zealand. This evolution allows our BDMs to focus on what matters most to advisers and borrowers: relationships, education, and helping Kiwis achieve their goals.
